The Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind is a not-for-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to provide guide dogs and training to people who are blind or have low vision throughout the United States and Canada.  Our services are free of charge to those we serve, thanks to the generosity of donors and the support of volunteers.  To better protect your privacy we provide this statement explaining our online and offline information practices.

The various purposes of this website include, but are not limited to, the following:

When you request information about a product or service or register with one of our sites, we may need to know specific information about you in order to process your requests and reply to your needs promptly.

The Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind collects personal information only when you voluntarily provide it to us on our site, such as when you register for an event, sign up to receive emails, make a donation, make a purchase from our store, or to complete applications.  You can choose what information you give us, but you may not be able to access certain features on our site as a result.  The Guide Dog Foundation will use your information for the purpose for which you give it to us (e.g., to complete an online Second Sight Shop® purchase, donation, volunteer or admissions application).  We may also use this information to send you occasional postal or electronic mailings.  If you have provided us with your information in the past and would like to be removed from our online or offline mailing list, please email us at info@guidedog.org.

The Guide Dog Foundation will occasionally share offline acquired donor information with like-minded nonprofit organizations in an effort to better fulfill our mission and serve our clients.  If you do not wish to have your information shared, please email us at info@guidedog.org

SECURITY

The Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind strives to keep your information secure and safeguard it from unauthorized access through the use of firewalls and virus/intrusion detection software to protect our servers. 

When you place orders or access your account information, we use a secure server.  This secure server software, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us.  Furthermore, all of the customer transactional data we collect is protected against unauthorized access with the use of digital certificates.  Digital certificates for the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind are issued by VeriSign, one of the most established signers of digital certificates. You can confirm that a site is secure because the Web address will begin with “https:”

Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving on-line or off-line (physical mailings) communications from the Guide Dog Foundation and third parties, if any, at the point where we request information about the visitor.
